NYC Fingerprinting Update

I did my fingerprints today (12/26) at the 227 Livingston Street ASC in Brooklyn. Everyone from other DOs should consider themselves lucky, as the 15-20 minute procedure is nonexistent here. My appointment was scheduled for 1 PM. I showed up at around 12:30, and was out at 2:10. When I went into the building, a security guard handed me a form to fill out, which contained roughly the same information as the first 2 pages of the N-400 (name, address, A#, country of birth, etc.). I was then directed to the counter where a clerk asked to see my appointment notice, my green card, and the form that I just filled out. I was then given a number tag and told to wait. There were 15 people ahead of me, and I waited about an hour to be called. The procedure itself was relatively quick (probably about 5 minutes). Afterwards, the lady who took my prints stamped my FP notice and gave it back to me. After nearly 2 hours, my prints were done!

For those of you who are driving, there is a parking garage right around the corner (on Hoyt Street, between Livingston and Fulton). The rates were very reasonable (5 bucks for 1 hour, 7 bucks for 2), so don't worry about parking if you decide to drive.

You are a nice guy to share even parking info. and probably even nicer because you didn't show up ealier than your schedule. YOu may get your interview sooner then you can share that one. I like to go to NYC but I never had time. I spent 3 hours three time in JFK but never been into the city.

Hey Vorpal,

Nice to hear you got your fingerprints done. Now on to the countdown!

This is one of the reasons why I am glad I don't live in the DC area. I would have been stuck for a few hours too instead of the 10 minutes it took me on Friday. And yes, I am gloating a bit. :D

Seriously though, all considering, I think it went very smoothly for you and I wish you and everyone else a speedy process.

I am glad we have this support system.

As usual, thanks for the kind words, guys! I am glad that the FP process is done. The only thing left to do now is sit back and wait for my interview, if all goes smoothly. Although I didn't ask, I doubt that it's even possible to do walk-in fingerprints at the Brooklyn ASC. There is a sign by the entrance, stating that only those who have appointments on the current date will be admitted. Also, the security guard scrutinized the FP notice very closely before giving me a clipboard with the information form.

Nimche - you should DEFINITELY visit NYC at least once in your life. Despite the unreasonably high real estate prices, I still love this place. There's always something to do, 24/7/365. Oh yeah, the variety of food is immeasurable!

Yours is not bad. I didn't expect the 15-20 min in the first place. Mine was at a Jamaica Ave center. 8am appt. Got out at 9:30am, happily and gratefully. As to parking, metors all around the blocks, but have to be careful with the date and time of street cleaning.

Anyone knows how long does it take now between finger prints and interview notice?

There were only 15 people ahead of me, and there were 6 technicians taking prints. That lead me to believe that it would only take a few minutes. Oh well, at least the FPs are done now.

I'd also like to know how long it takes between FPs and interview notice. It all depends on whether or not an applicant gets stuck in name check and the availability of appointments at the local DO. From what I've heard, NYC DO is very quick.
