I called up NVC and got the following message

"A biographic form has been sent to the lawyer to be
filled, once this is received, please allow 6-8 weeks to review your material and a response from NVC"

does that mean that packet 3 is mailed from NVC to my lawyer?

Thanks for the responses

Yes. Generally speaking it should reach the lawyer in about 2-3 weeks time frame. Check with your lawyer 3 wks. after the date mentioned on the NVC message.

why 2-3 weeks?

Just out of curiosity, If it is already mailed why it should take 2-3 weeks. I mean, a normal post-mail takes 3-4 days. So is this a postal-delay or there is a gap between when I am getting the message, but it is still lying with NVC.

also, there is no date thing mentioned in the message.

Thansk in advance.

Most of the times, the AVM doesn't have the latest status. It may be updated late.

But your attorney should have received the forms by this time. Generally it should not take more than a week. Check with your attorney and ask him to call NVC.

NVC AVM message says
"NVC received the documents on 03/__/04. Please allow 6-8 weeks from this date for NVC to review your material and ........"

Does this mean NVC is reviewing/working on the case?

I have gone through some posts in the forum which says "NVC is reviewing the case after reciewing the DS-230". I would appreciate any inputs.

What the message means is that the file is ready to be mailed out and possibly it has already been handed over to their mailing section (or something like that). It is also possible this section may not immediately jump on it and put it mail.

Another thing is, they may say 2 to 3 weeks, but normally it
would reach in about 10 days.

{If this is the message you are hearing after sending the Packet 3 , then it means they have received the packet and the review
process in going on.

After about 2 or 3 weeks (normally) you would hear the message saying that '.....the reveiw is complete and allow ....weeks for further instructions' which would mean the review is complete and the file is ready to be sent out to the Consulate}
