NSC processing methodology - a breakthrough in understanding?

During my fiddlings (is that a word?) with the Greenland script, I noticed the following:

For a particular day e.g. LIN02-100, the first part of the list of LINs are almost all approved while the second part of the list has almost no approvals.

Now, the same thing is true for the following day, e.g. LIN 02-101.

Therefore, it seems logical that the date on which a particular application is processed depends not only on the LIN # but also on how High or Low the last four digits of your LIN number is.
(I am assuming that the fifth-last digit is always a 5 - anybody know why?)

Now this is where I start guessing, bigtime. It seems that the NSC hands out a day(LIN02-100) to a particular official(O1) and that official starts processing the list for that day. The next "Available" official(O2) gets the next day(LIN02-101) and starts processing. Offical O2 would process some cases in his list before official O1 finishes his list.

This would explain why LIN02-10052000 might be approved AFTER LIN02-1001000. The question is, what range of LINs is in play? Does one official get allocated more that one day?

What do you guys think?

Actually cases are numbered from 1 - 9999 (though only about half the numbers in that range are used per day. The fifth digit from the last signifies something else.......i.e.

For cases with a '5' as a 5th digit from the last, electronic case status information is available. Instead, if that number is a '0', then you must write to request the status of your case.

I have seen equally approved numbers

on particular days. That is my observation. May be they get excited to work on first 100 cases for a particular day and get bored and move onto next day and do the same thing.

Report

I am in the process of building up a database of valid LIN numbers for 485 cases for the following LIN numbers:

LIN02-075-5####
LIN02-100-5####
LIN02-125-5####
LIN02-156-5#### (the reason not 150 is that mine is 156)
LIN02-175-5####
LIN02-200-5####

Once I have a list of these numbers, I will post a summary report along with graphs so that we can try and judge some processing trends. I estimate I will be done by the end of next week some time (1000 limit). I will post my report weekly from then onwards.

Unless you guys can help me out and supply with with 485-specific LIN numbers for the following:
LIN02-075-50000 to 50999
LIN02-075-51000 to 51999
LIN02-075-52000 to 52999
LIN02-075-53000 to 53999 etc. up to where the numbers for the day end.
For the above LIN numbers. (I already have 100 and 156 populated)

If you guys can post these in this thread (Excel file), I can group them into a large report and produce the summary faster.

pool all the greenland result

Hi FunkyJunky,

I had similar ideas before. We should pool everybody's greenland result in one thread so we won't duplicate efforts. Do you want to start a new thread and name is "Greenland Result" and have people start put in their report so we can have a giant pool? I am running 02-098 now and only half way through. But I am more than happy to put my report on with yours and once I am done with mine, I will help you to run yours too.

wandergirlus,

I like the idea. I will create the new thread with the Title "Greenland Summary". I will then add the contents of my last post (modified slightly) and then we can roll..

Thanks. Gimme fifteen minutes and take another look.

another thought

FunkyJunky, one more thing. We can have people take ownership of each date they run for and have people update it once a week or once every other week (whatever we all agreen upon). Maybe we can all just attach the excile file to the thread instead of copying the report to the message body. That way, if one person want to gather everybody's result and put them in right order upon the date in one big file and send out update every once a while, it can be done. 'cause you know as it grows bigger, it will get confusing to people. The important thing is to keep it organized.

Good dea wandergirlus

That way we can scan more days (maybe even all of them).

I can gather the results into one huge summary report for everyone's benefit.

The proposal is in a new thread if you want to take a look. Give me your opinion on how clear the mission statement is.

here is what I've got

Greenland summary looked great!
I looked thru some thread just now and put together some ppl's posted report. Just a start. I don't want to respond on Greenland Summary thread, a little effort to keep it clean.

wandergirlus

Wait a minute,

I will take what you have given me and try and incorporate it, BUT, please visit the "Greenland Summary" thread in the NSC forum and check out my proposal first. I plan to start with six days, 25 days apart, and get an exhaustive list of all 485's for those days.

Once that is accomplished, I will expand it to other days.

I will store the numbers you have sent me and add them into the report, but let's try the six first.

What do you think?

such a thread already exists, click on this link: The Greenland Report

immitesting:

> how do we run the script. can anyone tell me where to look...

read my first three posts on the The Greenland Report thread mentioned above.

FunkyJunky, I agree with your proposal. The only reason I sent you all the reports for the other days is that they are out there already. I had a little extra time this morning so I put them together in excile format and forwarded to you. I didn't mean for your to post them, just to keep them in your pool file for later on. Sorry for the confusion. I think lots of people out there are going to run the report for their own date (just like me, I am running for 02-098) first before they run for other date. I just thought maybe send you what we have so far for you to compile later. I should be done running my in a few days and I will start to help run other dates as you proposed.

Porkchop, I read all the posting in Greenland Report thread. I have to give you the credit of inspire me for the idea of having one giant pool of all the result. However, it seems that people haven't post their result in a consistant base. Plus most people post the statistics instead of the report itself, so we have to rely on those individules to update their report. FunkyJunky and I would like to make it more organized. FunkyJunky volunteered to pool all the result together and post the update of the statitics which I think is awesome. I know you have already run your date, maybe you can share yours and join the pool. By the way, I can see you are a very active member here on this site. I've got lots of help from what you've post. I really would like to send my regard to you!!

i can see now where you are going with this, and it is a great idea! i will upload my excel sheet for LIN-02-075 and LIN-02-119. unfortunately, i will have to wait until i get home before i can do that, as i have the latest and greatest version of the file on my home computer. i should be able to do this over the weekend.

thanks for the kind regards!
