NPR's report on green card backlog

Good post! It has a sound byte from a USCIS spokesman, who gives the usual security bullshit, and claims that INS does not need additional man power to reduce backlogs to 6 months by 2006. :)

AMAZING!

well these are just excuses by INS.
they didnt even start processing I485 apps from Jan 2003.
looks like NPR's Jennifer Ludden is active reporter for Justice Department, immigration, and immigrant issues.

Looks like the contact email for the morning edition is
morning@npr.org

Should we spam them about this article? I mean try to make
them see sense that security check has nothing to do with this
and that USCIS is lying?

Won't be of much use but maybe it will make 0.001% difference
to them?

Here is Jennifer Ludden's profile. We should surely send emails, faxes or call NPR to highlight our concern on the backlog situation and talk about Jennifer's program.

Unfortunately I could not find her email address /phone number in the 5 minutes I spent on the search. I did find some other relevant numbers we can use. If someone finds her email address it will be nice.

email address for the program -> Morning edition: morning@npr.org

NPR/KALW 91.7 FM in SFO

They have a section on the immigrants life on Sunday afternoons -called "Upfront" and is pretty good. Presented by a guy named Sandip Roy - i think he is our guy.

Check out the local NPR station at www.kalw.org.

This American Life

Now on second thoughts the better forum would be "This American life" - that comes on sundays too.

However ironical it may sound getting an immigrants woes on there.

I just heard it. USCIS (Too many letters for doing nothing
why can't we just shorten it to BS), spokesman says
they will not try to improve processing times as that
might jepordize secuity. First thing they should tell
is how many terrorists they were able to find as a result
of these additional secuity measures. What a nice excuse
9/11 has given to these immigrant haters, who think that
america was made for them and for them only.

Kudos to BS.

JC.
