Hello guys,

I have a great news to share with you, I got my RTD last week. It took them less than 2 month to issue it. I was pretty happy about it. I have a question. I have Passport but it is NOT a Passport of a country that I claimed in my asylum application. Should I use that passport for traveling or should I use my RTD? I know it been discussed many time but I think I have little bit different situation. Any input is appreciated.

Does your destination allow visa free entry with your NP? I assume you are a derivative asylee, so I don't think using your NP abroad would be a problem.

so what if I have an unexpired NP (never renewed since asylum granted) and want to travel to a country (not COP) where tourist visas are easy to obtain with NP, it it possible to travel with both RTD and NP to that country?

thanks

Well, it is POSSIBLE, but I do not advise it, just because it is a risk. People on this forum have said that they've done so, by showing their passports in the country they visit, but their RTD in the US. However, it is up to you depending on how comfortable you are doing it. I myself might have done it if I had had a valid passport. If you need a visa on either an RTD or an NP, I suggest using the RTD just to be consistent. But, if you don't need a visa with your NP, and your RTD is close to expiring, for example, then use your RTD when you come back to the US and show your NP when you enter the foreign country.
