Hi all:

Just became a US citizen few days ago :) . Thanks to everybody on this forum who helped with good information. My DO was New Orleans. It took a long time, almost 14 months from start to Oath. New Orleans is one of the DOs which take a very long time to complete N-400 process, I guess.

Now can somebody direct me to a thread or website where I can find good info for K-3 visa for my wife?? I have already submitted I-130 for her about 3 years ago, and have already applied to upgrade that application to Immediate Relative (IR) of a citizen. Can I also apply for a K-3 for her and use whichever is approved first? Does any body know which gets approved faster, K-3 or upgrade of already filed I-130?? What is the total time it takes for K-3 or I-130?? Any response/suggestion will be appreciated.

By the way, my status for N-400 never changed in the USCIS website!!! It still has the same message "It is taking about 999 days for procssing ......"
 
Hey Congrats. My swearing in ceromony is in a few days down in New Orleans, and it will have taken about 14 months in all for me. If you did your Oath in New Orleans I have a couple of questions for you. First, did your Oath letter tell you to go to the office on Loyola Avenue?, and Second is that were the phyical Swearing in occured? Lasty, how long did the ceromony take and was there room for friends and relatives to see the ceomony. Thanks and again Congrats.

Yes, it was in the office on Loyola Avenue and that was where physical swearing-in occured. Actual ceremony was about one hour, but first they call each of the would-be citizen to a table to check if everything on the naturalization certificate is correct and accurate and sign the certificate. Depending on how many applicants are there for that ceremony, it may take a quite-a-bit of time. In that day there were 53 applicants and it took about 1 hour to check all the certificates and get the signatures on them. So the total ceremony was about 2 hours. Yes there was room for friends and relatives to see the ceremony and take pictures, if you want to. The room is not very big, so if there are a lot of friends and relatives, they may have to stand at the back of the room, not enough chairs being available. Enjoy your ceremony.

For you styxwolf, my time line was about 13 months, INS recieved application on 4 Feb 04, did fingerprints in Houston somewhere late Aug of 2004, Interview was in New Orleans Feb 28 or so of 2005 and I recieved my oath appointment letter about 2 weeks after the interview for a swearing in on March 31. For a grand total of about 13 months.

Fingerprint Appointment : Sep 02 2003
2nd Fingerprint Appointment : Jan 14 2005
Interview Appointment : May 11 2005

Looks like my case has taken a lot longer to get to this stage.
I'm glad your oath cermony will finally bring your case to a close in a couple of days. Congratulations in advance!! Could you please post any details on your interview experience?

Just a general overview of the process, and overall how long did it take. Also, were the questions for the History/Civics all from the 100 questions?
