Ok, now I got an FP after I received the RFI (yellow paper) last week.

The FP just came in over the weekend for an appointment next week.

I did not get the FP during the "FP mania" last year. But I got it now. Don't know what it all means.... Any opinions?

Gracias,

I don't take as a major milestone except that it gives you an assurance that your file is not lost and that an officer at INS is looking at it. Having said that it is better to have your FP and RFI on your file than not having them.

Please tell us your time line.

Somebody with May 2000 timeline got RFE and approval recently. So they must be approaching your application for final approval since they have your medicals now. keep us informed.

One of my friends got approved of GC recently. His RD is in October, 2000.

GraceMarc! When you say that he has been approved, do you mean that he has got GC stamp or are you just talking about RFI?

Thank you for your question.

His case status said his green card has been approved. Maybe in next few days he will get his green card.

Yes, he is an asylee. His ND is in October, 2000. No doubt.

Actually when I got this news, I called CIS just two hour ago. A gentelman told me that CIS is processing cases based on every single individual. Each is different from another.

It is the news that encouraged me to call CIS just for my case. In last April, I did a FP, but the FP is still pending review, taking almost a year and not finished. He let me do nothing but wait. I told him my friend just got his FP review finished in 2-3 days in last year and would get his green card soon, why do I need a year or more? What is wrong with me? I also got a FBI background checks through a company in Ohio with a cost $55.00. My history is very clean without any problem. I asked him whether you would delay my case or not regarding sending me RFE or green card issues because of the FP pending. He said everything seems good on my case. he repeated that the CIS processing now is based on every single case and let me do nothing.

Even though he told me like this, I am still worrying about my case. My ND is in May, 2001. I hope anyboby could give me more advices.

Now this is plain weird

If this explanation is true then that mean they are not following any rhyme and reason and picking up the cases out of the clear blue and approve whoever they feel like. I can't imagine they can be this haphazard in processing these cases especially right after taking the Ngwanyia Ashcroft fiasco right on their chin

Actually... I am not surprised. I think I would have been shocked if they WERE following a "first come first serve" basis.

This is very typical of CIS and will remain so.
