Hi ,

My wife is a on G visa and got an RFE because she needs to submit the form I-508 and I-566.

In the form I-566 there is a field called Department of State Personal Identification Number (PID). Does anybody know what that is?

Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.

Which nationality is your wife? What government department does she work for? Is hers a dependent G visa?

If she is not from the DoS listed "terrorism sponsoring state," she should have no problem in obtaining the PID.

Best wishes,

Jigesh

She if from India. She works for the UN. She is a primary G4 Visa holder - not a dependent. Where does she get the PID from?
Please let me know. Thanks.

Personal ID numbers to G-visa holders are issued by the Protocol Office of the US Department of State. You can also check G-visa stamp or its extension stamp or any other relevant documentation related to the initial issuance of G-visa.

If PID number is not assigned, write "Not Available" and your wife can include UN-issued document containing the principal G-holder's and dependents' names, stating when the principal applicant’s tour of duty will be completed.

I would advise contacting the DoS and making it sure instead of relying on my words - I have no direct experience in such matters but just wanted to help you out if I could. Here are their phone numbers: http://www.foia.state.gov/mms/OrgDirectory/OrgDir.asp?ID=5 and http://contact-us.state.gov/

By the way, what's I-508 for?

Best wishes,

Jigesh

Jigesh,

Thank you very much for the Info. I will follow the link.

The I-508 form is a waiver form - basically she has to give up her diplomatic immunity, tax exempt status etc.

I have another question. I got a standard employment RFE - I have all the documents - except the W2 I have for 2001 says "to be filed with NY State return" . I do not have the W2 that says (employee copy) - I guess my CPA may have used the incorrect W2.

Can I use the W2 I have - will that cause a problem. Please advise.

Thank you once again.

state W2 might be okay

but to be on safer side...contact your HR and they can give you a new W2. that takes about 2-3 days.
