Notary Format for Employment Letter

What's the exact format of getting an employment letter notarized?

I've notarized documents before; the notary puts a seal on the document and signs it. Isn't this same everywhere?

Employment letter issued by our HR in California doesn't have any notary signature/seal on the employment letter. But an accompanying acknowledgement letter. Is this an OK format?

Rashmi,
You need to get a notarized employers offer letter on employer's letter head period, no extra attached proof papers.

The letter as you explained would not work. You need to ask your HR
to get it notarized properly. The notary seal and signature should be
affixed on the letter itself.
