Hi! We are in the process of applying for a PIO at the San fran consulate for our minor son. I am a little confused as far as the documentation required pertaining to parent's PP. Do we have to notarize the copies of parents passport pages or it doesnt matter? Every Indian consulate's web site has different sets of instructions- why cant these idiots standardize everything as one form and one set of instructions??? Anyone who applied at SF consulate care to answer my question?

I would get them noterized, it doesn't harm. I did that couple weeks ago to apply for my daughter's PIO card at NYCGI.

If it says self attested copies are fine then just write "true copy of original" , then sign and date the copy. SF is very efficient and their website is accurate. Plus they actually reply emails so ask them if still in doubt .

If you go personally no need to notarize, (I went personally to Embassy in San Francisco verified with officer over there, when i applied PIO card for my son ).

If you are mailing the application you might need to notarize.
