Hi,

I won DV lottery, received notification in may, and sent DSP-122 soon after, but I havent received any confirmation from KCC.

Should I be worried ?

My number is around 3000 (Europe) So a visa number is available to me but I guess I cant file for AOS if I didnt go through the interview to get approved right ?

Thanks

You got it all wrong!!!!!!!!!!!
You must file for AOS in order to get an inteview.
Have you send the fee to PA? Have you received the receipt notice? If so, with your number being current, what are you waiting for?
Read this thread to get some idea of what you need to do: http://immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=215048.
There was one person on this forum, who actually waited until September to be called for an interview without filing for AOS. :rolleyes: When he realized he had to file when his number was current, it was too late... he lost his chance...

Oh ok for the interview, but am I not supposed to get a confirmation from KCC before I do anything else ?

No I didnt send any fees. I though I was supposed to get a receipt from KCC telling me that they are done with my case, and that now I could deal with USCIS.

For example somebody on those forum had the following process:

1) 04/20/06: Winning Notification,EU below 600
2) 06/17/06: KCC AOS Confirmation
3) 08/30/06: DV Fee Mailed
4) 09/07/06: DV Receipt Received
5) 09/28/06: AOS Pkg Mailed Via USPS

I never received KCC AOS confirmation, Do i need it? Should I just pay the fee and file the AOS ?

You don't need the confirmation notice to pay the fee!
In fact, you don't need that confirmation notice at all. When you pay the fee, they will know about your intention of doing AOS, and they will send your file to USCIS. But, you could have called the KCC or e-mail them to find out about the receipt of your DSP-122... it's been 5 months...
1. Pay the fee regardless of anything;
2. Call KCC to find out if they received your form;
3. Apply for AOS (you can take the receipt of your payment with you to the interview).

Men, how should I know that ? The information package is not clear about that at all.

I did email KCC early on to confirm the process, and this was never made clear when to pay the fee.
I did email them recently about my case, and I'm still waiting for a real response.
I even have lawyers, Immigration lawyers, paid by my company, and he couldnt make this clear to me... He helped me file DSP-122 and DS-230, but they never told me to mail a fee... Now they tell me they are going to file AOS, but I wonder how...
Cant find a thing on USCIS or DOS website about the DV process after you receive the winning notice.
No wonder they select many more winners than they have visa..

I'm glad this forum exist.

Hire a new lawyer.

If the lawyer was clueless aobut paying the fee, he wouldn't be able to help you in this process.

To Droopycom

Listen carefully:

Re-read your NL and find the page with the slip to send your DV fee to the Dept. of State. Do that asap. You'll get a receipt (same slip with a stamp) within a week. Make a copy of it and sent it with your I-485 package that by now you should have ready with the OTHER fees for AOS payable to Homeland Security.

Don't wait for an aknowledgement letter from KCC. If you are doing AOS they won't send you any more info.

Later today I will post my complete and...long 2006 AOS experience.

Good luck

Barbara
