 Now that the Senate has passed the Bill to Apply for 7th year extension for those whose Labor is pending more than 365 days its a welcome news!

But who knows what this means? Does it mean another couple of years before any hopes of having the labor cleared? Isn't it like having a sword hanging over your head all the time?

Will the companies that have hired us go thru the process of applying for extension every year if this thing gets dragged?

What about folks who dont satisfy the condition of the 365 days? Aren't they too legal in this country? Paying their taxes and are law abiding Citizens? ( My labor is filed in Jul'2001 and satisfies the condition!)

Do we now have TWO different regulations for folks in the same boat? Some satisfying the condition and some not?

I would have been rather happy if the State/INS had decided to staff the department with more resources rather than make exceptions to the rule.

This country beleives in equal justice for all , then how come this anomaly? Its high time our leaders realize the complexity and the magnitude of this decision and once and for all come up with a ruling that would satisfy one and all.

Keep-calm folks , its still a long way to go!

Come on now!

Equal justice doesn't mean that everyone can do whatever they like, it just means that the same laws apply to everyone equally. GC holders and citizens under 17 can't vote, I cannot collect social security until I am a certain age, there are thousands of rules and regulations that only apply to certain people.

For Jim

Jim,

I agree with you, but also disagree to a certain degree. It is so hard for law-abiding, tax paying folks (most H-1b’s) to obtain a GC. But they just hand it over to people from Cuba (special status), fake political asylums, Bosnians or Russians (U.S. is not responsible for problems in their country). I have nothing against any race or country. If you going to make it hard for people like us, why not make it equally hard for everybody else. Most of these free loaders become public liability, and drain on our economy (with high school diplomas or no education at all). I don’t think we treat everybody equally.
