I am just starting the J1 waiver process with India, and have a bunch of questions. I am preparing the packet for sending it to the Consulate in New York, and their instructions are kind of ambiguous.
- Should I send my original passport? Should I also send my expired passport?
- Should I leave the I-94 card in the passport?
- Is the fee $60 or is it $66? I see different information at different places.
- Do I need to fill in the "misc services form"?
- Do I need to send my degree certificates (PhD, MS, etc?) to the indian consulate, or do these go only to the government offices in India in Step 2?
- I renewed my passport from the Chicago Consulate, but my first passport was issued in New Delhi. Which passport office do I need to get the clearance from?
- Approximately how long do they take for the attestation?
Thanks!
