Instead of sitting patiently waiting for the approvals or just asking god, why not do something to jump start it? Nothing we have done so far seems to have helped, let us try and pressurize them into giving us our approvals. Please join the fax campaign, send a fax to your Congressman with the petition to work towards speedier approvals. For further information please click on the link in my signature.

140_takes_4ever,

Whethere I will be in US or India. I still need to change my skills and want to understand what is best. I have already done what I can.

If you haven't faxed the petition to your Congressmen, or talked to him/her about speeding up your approval case, then there still is a lot you can help with.

A lot of people on this forum are trying to jump start the slow pace of approvals. Why not help them, help you get your approvals?

Offcourse don't neglect your skill set in the time being but helping the campaigns won't take up more than 10-15 mins of your time.

Please HELP!

SAP is doing well and also Business objects. I am working on oracle OLAP , I am going to india on vacation, I thought of taking either of these course some people told they charge 10000 RS for both.

Eventhough i have BI and microstrategy they are asking for above let me try my luck in this tooo

thanks

Straight and to the point:- Other than diverting the folks from filing the lawsuit and some advertisement for this forum, sending petitions has been a hopeless endeavor.
Some are part of this process, some are brainwashed. Lobbying the congress is a herculean effort and a few letters from the congressmen will not make any difference.

checkthisout,
Are you without job now ? I thought Power Builder is doing good. There is nothing HOT for beginners. Datawarehouse and ASP are pretty good and easy to get into for beginners. If you take a good training in both these skillsets, you should find a job. But make sure not to learn too many things. You will end up, not learning anything.

dsatish,

I have a job but looking for change and also keeping option open for going back. I want to go for tranning in India because it is cheaper. I am not a beginner I have around 10years of exp.

http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?threadid=102130&perpage=15&pagenumber=6 here is some proof of the success of the campaign at work! Obiously lobbying congress is a herculean task, and it won't get done unless we get started.

I don't mean to distract any one from either political, legislative or legal action. I for one think we should explore all avenues, Faxing senators or signing petitions is definitely not going to take more than 5-15 mins of your time. You have already spent years in this process, what is 5-15 mins extra?

Look at our results already. We are putting pressure on them when our campaign is its nascent form. Think what would happen if more people supported it.

And if legal option is what appeals to you the most, then please join the core team to work out a legal strategy.

All I am asking from you and everyone else is participation, if you like one idea more than the other, then participate in it. But don't just sit on your ass, hoping and praying for approvals, or shooting other people's endeavours down without suggesting alternatives or taking part in the process yourself

To all,
This thread is about job opportunities for Techies(that's what 80% of the people here are). So i suggest that let us keep ourselves away from other discussions.

Re: Dude.. look for some managerial skills..

Depends!!! If job security is the issue, then being a technocrat is advisable. Yes, one has to keep upgrading his skills accordingly.
Try and get an MBA if you decide to be a manager.

I really don't have time to do MBA now.. otherwise I would have loved to do that from some Ivy League Univ. Right now, I am trying to get as much knowledge out of internet/local avenues like colleges as possible in various management skills.. besides working for client, managing team in India and spending rest of the time with family (besides browsing this board often on Fri.). I only wish that I would have same amount of time in hand to use as I used to have before coming here 7 years back..... :) :) :)

checkthisout, if i were to start today with beginner's skills, I would look at the leaders in this industry, and base my skillsets on their future directions accordingly.
The money is in services, and that is where these people are investing.
Look at IBM and Microsoft for example. On demand computing is the future and related technologies like autonomic computing, grid technologies, .NET and java based web services will be in demand. Now the basic skills needed to support this would be java, C#, XML, XMI and application server knowledge like websphere or weblogic. The databases that are commonly used are DB2 and Oracle.
Any of these technologies will be in demand for the next few years. Remember this: ASP and datawarehousing skills are pretty common, and being outsourced heavily.

I understand!!! You do not need an MBA to be an entrepreneur. You need ideas and a will to execute. I do have an MBA though.
You are just doing fine.....

Sai... I didn't know you did MBA.. cool.. from which Univ? I have a cousin who did his CA in India and did his MBA from one of the better schools here. Claims that there is huge difference in the education.. is that right? Currently he manages a team.. in one major financial institute.... what about you? Is your MBA helping you?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Dude.. look for some managerial skills..

I was sponsored for MBA by my company. They paid for it. So it had to be in the vicinity, as I was doing it taking evening classes. I did it from PACE university in NY. I did it in Information Systems. I am an architect and definitely find the knowledge useful, in my daily work.
