Hi, My husband and kids are canadian citizens and I'm a PR. Can I get a TD at the border or do I have to go through the consulate?

How long does it take?. They want my husband to start soon. Should he go through the border and get a TN and me and hte kids apply for a TD at the consulate? Or is it better for all of get it at the same time?

You can't get your consular visa until he gets his TN, so, there won't be any mass trip to the border. He should go to border himself and get TN, meanwhile, you -- only you -- go online and get consular appointment for TD, and then once you have the visa (check waiting time, could be a while), you and the kids can go to the border and enter on TD. He could take the kids for TD when he gets TN, but why bother?

Your children won't be issued consular visas, since they are Cdn. They simply show up at border with a copy of his TN I-94.

Can I get a TD visa in another country?, we left the country and my PR card is expired and my application has not been processed yet. I know I can ask for a travel document but it seems easier to fly to my home country and do the TD there.

It is not as simple as saying that you can "get it in another country".

The fact that this is your HOME country actually matters. Many consulates will not deal with 3rd-country nationals, but since this is your home country (and visa rejection would not put you at risk of remaining there illegally) this wil not be a problem.
