Hi All,

Maybe good news!!!. With so slow processing, what else we can expect!!!

Following update is from immigration-law.com:

Updated 11/05/2002: DOS Reportedly Predicts No Retrogression For EB-Visa Numbers

AILA has reported that DOS does not anticipate that the immigration visa numbers for employment-based cases will retrogress until September 30, 2003 or even until September 30, 2004, except that the unskilled category can experience backlog depending on development of the situation. Meanwhile, family-based visa numbers are reportedly to move forward in more rapid pace in the next several months. Apparently, the prediction is based on the slow-down of the INS 485 application processings and the visa posts' processing delays owing to the time-consuming security checks.

Thanks

One factor that could cause retrogression is unavailability of visa numbers. Another factor is INS processing speed.

If the waits for 485 processing go over 2 years (which given the current speed, january people will have to wait that long), dates could still retrogress.

The reason I say "2" years is .. because 2 years is an awfully long time, and by then people would start raising hue and cry (esp. that Vermont is giving gc's in 6 months).

I think we have a good enough reason to raise hue and cry right now. I suggest everyone still unapproved with ND < JIT, and IIO's telling that case is still unassigned, start writing letters to media and senators, get CSC some attention or this monster will never move.

No end to the list of complains that I have on the INS. I don't understand why it takes so long to process a simple application. We pay enough in 485 fees to expect a good turn around on processing speed. And logic behind applying seperately for 140 and 485 is beyond me. Why can't they simplify the process.

The 2 year time to approval seems extremely likely, looking at the rate of approvals for October and November. What is going to happen is that the INS is going to sit on its fat ass and block up all our cases, and finally on receiving a sharp kick on the ass from companies and senators will inititate a mass rush to process the cases and people like us who will end up waiting 2 years for our green cards will be at the loosing end of the stick.

Makes me mad and it is frustrating since there is nothing we can do other than monitor the damn process and bitch about it.
