No paychecks - Confused!!!

I finished my project few months back. My company has not been able to place me since then. I am worried because I am not getting my paychecks since then. Does INS ask for paychecks at any point. My details:

RD:Oct 2nd 2001
ND: Nov 21st 2001
FP: Mar 6th 2002

what is the best thing to do - change the employer? or
                               stick to the same employer?

Can anybody get RFE for paystubs or only special cases?

People have got REF for employment letter and pay stubs just proving that they are still working. I don\'t know how INS knows or picks these cases. I guess its random based on the current layoff trend.
