Recently "bbad" posted following message but may be because of different "subject" line that message didn\'t get enough attention I guess! Here is the essense of it...

b Adit Processing For Employment Based Cases
Cases approved by the Service Center, the client needs to go to the San Jose INS office to be processed for the Adit stamp and creation of the Alien Registration Card. With the appointment letter form the Service Center, the individual need not stand in the “regular” line, but should go directly to the Security Guard and will be allowed to enter the facility. Children under ten years of age need not be present.

szhou "INS San Jose Liaison Meeting on March 6, 2002 (03-07-2002" 3/8/02 9:48pm

Did any one tried this recently? Yes, the note says "Appointment letter from the Service Center", I am not sure if it means "Approval letter from the Service Center" or one need to make an appointment and wait for some time (if one need to take an appointment then it would be from local INS though!)

One of my friends got it without standing in the queue

using this as he was told by his lawyer and another friend...But apparantly no one in SJC office knew about this....After having a long discussion they told him there was no such thing but just let my friend get it stamped......they didn\'t allow anybody else though

No Title

TensedAlways,

Can you please find out from your friends what happened at the gate? I mean any questions asked etc. and exactly when it happened (date)?

Thanks

I saw someone did it this morning.

My GC was approved early last year.
I went to INS San Jose this morning 4:00AM for other matter.
When I was about to reach the gate (~7:50), I saw a lady coming from the other side (line for people with appointment) and showing a 485 approve notice to the guard. He let her proceed!

Maybe the San Jose office has changed their guideline quietly.
I also noticed that much more people got in the office through the "appointment line" than I ever seen before.
On the other hand, the general line is a little bit shorter than before.

I have stood in line at San Jose office many times for different issues in last two years.

******** Here is my TIP. It may helpful for people going for pp stamping in San Jose INS:-
People going to San Jose INS for PP stamping. No need to go early OR wait in long queue. You can go around 7AM or 8AM and stand in appointment queue. If you have INS approval letter. it is like an appointment letter.

"Tiptronicus1" got it stamped at San Jose on 06/06

San Jose PP stamping experience
Tiptronicus1 - 02:20pm Jun 6, 2002 EST

Reached there at 7 am. There is ample parking in the INS
facility. There was a queue of about 100 people. The appointments
queue had only 10 people. At 7 am, they started letting people in,
people with appointments first. The 485 approval letter is accepted as
an appointment.

First went to information and got the token numbers. My wife was
called in 5 mins. The officer looked at the photograph and said that
it is not as per specification. It has to 1 1/4 inches from head to
chin etc. So he asked her to get another picture taken. In the next
block there is an place (Jonathan Studio) which takes 2 pics for ~ $11
(Cheaper than Wolf or Sears). That place opens only at 8 and accepts
cash only.

The officer took my application and approved the photo. He also took
the EAD, AP and I-94. He said since the photo place opens only at 8, he
would take our finger prints and signature and send our file for IBIS
approval upstairs.

At 8, we got her picture taken at Jonathan Studio (which is located
inside a car workshop) and entered the INS building. We bypassed the
long queue by telling the guard that we went to get the picture
taken. By that time the officer who was handling our case was working
at the information desk and had to wait for a while before he came
back to his desk.

We gave the picture to the officer. By that time our files had
come back to him with IBIS approval. He stamped our passports and we
were out by 9:30.

Went to San Jose office at 7:20am and went inside direcly.
I was out around 9:30am with the stamping.
I think lot of people still don\'t know the fact that the persons
with approval letter can go directly inside.I saw quite a few people
standing in the queue.
Thanks for this forum for saving atleast 4 hours of waiting.

No need to stand in line. The "Courtesy copy" of your approval notice sent to your home address will serve as an appointment letter.
If you plan to go SJC, will recommend reaching there before 7:00AM. In our case, we reached over there at 7:00AM and were out by 8:17AM.
Going Early Really Helps !!!
