I have been to ASC recently after 90 days to get Interim EAD and I was told "no more interim EADs will be issued and approval has to come from Service center". We have stopped doing it as of Sept 26th, 2006.

Not sure whether it is true every where but I have called 800 number and the message is same.

I guess now the pain is same for EAD as other applications like 485.
 
What about I 131

Anyone knows that are they still processing emergency travel document I-131

Make sure you talk to a rep. Explain your situation. As per them it has to be life and death situation. They will give you a fax number. You have to fax your letter, receipt, letter from doctor etc. Wait 3 days. If this does not work then send a paper based application (the cust rep will tell you the instructions.) Last year I had to send a separate paper based application.
