Hello everyone,

One of my friends was going to visit China for a week; but he could not get a visa. He told me that China will no longer issue visa on RTD and this is a recent development. Is this real? How about issuing visa for RP holders? Anyone can comment on it.

I am very suprised to hear about this since many members on this forum have gotten a Chinese visa in the past. I don't want to spread rumor, can anyone confirm?

I cannot confirm it. But it it a fact that they have changed many of their visa policies in the past few weeks. It has created a furor among international businessmen. For example, many American passport holders now cannot get multiple entry visas to the mainland.

The apparent reasons are the Olympic Games and the unrest in Tibet.

So I cannot say what friend heard is true. But I do know that the Chinese are seriously paranoid now. They are concerned that some people would do something to make the Chinese government look bad during the Games.

Hi Thankful,

Thanks for the response. This does not sound very good. I could not find information about not accepting RTD on the Chinese Consulate website. I am trying to figure out if the policy change is also applied to RP holders.

They have been pretty secretive about the changes too. I have a friend who works at the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and she has been getting nowhere in trying to get the official word from the Chinese. Remember she is asking on behalf of a powerful organization.

good luck finding out what is going on.

my bet is they will return to normal after the stupid game.
