No Intended Address - is this a problem?

Hi

I am a US citizen by birth. I have a US passport and currently reside in Canada. I have no family in the US but would like to move there with my British husband and three children (2 British, 1 Canadian). The forms for applying for residency ask for an intended address. I don't have one. I would just like to get my familys green cards and then buy somewhere when we get there, perhaps rent for a while in the meantime. Do I need to put down an answer for this question. Also if I get my familys green cards do we have to enter the country in a specific timeframe, or can we enter as and when? Any help would be gratefully received.

You will need a mailing address in the U.S. at the very least to supply to your husband to be processed by CBP for his greencard and social security number upon entry. Got any relatives in the U.S. who would at least accept your mail and give you a call? Also, as the petitioner, you will require a U.S. domicile in order to file the required I-864. Go to www.uscis.gov and read those form instructions carefully.

Have you checked on the possibility that your children are already USC's through being born you, a USC parent? See INA 301 if in wedlock and INA 309 if out of wedlock. The INA is also on the website on the laws tabs or see the Nationality Charts (#1 and #2) in the Adjudicators Field Manual Appendices 71-something, same website.
