No EAD after 100+ days

I e-filed EAD renewal on 05/04/09 at TSC, got RFE for photographs on 06/12/09, sent the photographs and that was the last update in the online status that the response to RFE was received. My current EAD already expired on 08/12/09. I have taken two Infopass so far (where the IO opened a service request), called the online customer server 3 times (each time got a new service request referral number) but no update to my case since 06/12/09.
Today I received a response to the SR which I opened by calling Customer Service. It says -

"Based on your request we researched the status of this case. We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 30 days of this letter, please call customer service at the number provided below."

Please suggest what should I understand from this. Is it the standard response on every case which is delayed? It has been more than 100 days since I filed for the renewal and my current EAD already expired and I am forced to be on unpaid leave. Not sure what kind of additional review is needed to be done on my case? Is it possible that my file is misplaced, as after so many SR, there was not even one update to the LUD on my case. Should I file a new EAD?
Please advise what should I do as I am slowly getting very depressed……

Yes, this is a default letter will be send to every one. Practically, you can not do any thing. The other thing you have to know is that if you receive RFE the clock will stop and start the count from day 1 again when they receive your respose.

Should I consider filing a new renewal application or wait for this?
