I had a citizenship interview on Sep 19th 2012
I Passed the English and Civic test
the IO asked some basic questions like
no immigration problems , no IRS issues , no criminal activities etc etc
then IO begin to review my application and he has a objection on the time outside USA section
he told me that there is a problem here and i can't approve at this time - he also told me that he can't make any decision because every case is checked (i guess he wanted a supervisor approval/denial etc)
he informed me that i can't take 2 trips outside USA for more then 180 days , he also informed me that he can ignore my last trip which was exactly 180 days .then he informed me that we will proceed with the rest of the application and complete the remaining process .he walk through rest of my N-400 application and in the end he gave me a letter
with "no decision has been made yet" and he wrote by hand two trips of 180 days or more W/I 5 years (with in 5 years) .he informed me that he will try to reply within 30 days of the interview .the rule is about 60 days
its my mistake i read the hand written line at my home and i was shock
within last 5 years i have a one trip outside USA which lasted for 5 months and 29 days or exactly 180 days
i wrote a letter to the IO and tried to clarify my position .
is there anything to worry about or should i write a letter again to the IO
or contact a supervisor ..
any advise will be helpful

yes i only have one trip of 180 days in last 5 years
my other trip was 6 years ago .. don't know it matters or not .IO wrote about 2 trips within last 5 years
IO believes i have two trips of 180 days or more within last five years
Thanks

A trip abroad of 180 days or less can still break continuous residency, depending on the particulars.

When exactly did that last 180 days trip occur? How long did you spend in the U.S. between that 180 days trip and the previous 180+ days trip?

What was the reason for the most recent 180 days trip?
Did you work abroad during that trip? Did you keep a job back in the U.S. during that trip?
Did you continue to rent/own housing in the U.S. during that trip? Did any of your immediate family members remained in the U.S. during that trip?

Depending on the answers to these kinds of question, the trip may or may not be a problem.
