I am filing for I-485 . However I dont have a birth certificate.

Can anyone (esp. those who got cleared) send me a birth certificate affidavit?

Will an affidavit notarized by a notary of the local court in India suffice?

Samples appreciated...

You can visit www.immihelp.com and find the sample of affidavit you need 2 affidavits singed by your parents or elderly relatives affidavits on 10 rupees stamp paper can be singed before notary in India or executive magistrate ( Tehsildar) they should state the relationship with you)
AND
You also need non-availability of Birth certificate you can get non-availability of birth records from Municipality or from District registrar of birth or from Village panchayat and if that is in Indian language get it translated in English by Notary in India on 10 rupees stamp paper, Notary will stamp the English translation as True Translation of….

Strange form?

Ginnu the only sample form says like this:

I, (name of relative), solemnly state and affirm as hereunder:
(1) I presently reside at ___________________________________.
(2) I am a citizen of _______________________________.
(3) I was born on ___________________ at________________.
(4) I am the (state relationship to the person whose birth is being verified)
(5) I personally know that (name of person) was born on ____________ at _________.
(6) A request has been made with the proper authorities for (name of person)'s birth certificate but the same is unavailable.

I hereby affirm under the penalty of perjury pursuant to the laws of the United States of America (28 U.S.C. Section 1746) that the foregoing is true and correct.

Now how come you can get that notarized in an Indian court with perjury declarations to the US Government?

Why not? 28 U.S.C. Section 1746 is about unsworn declarations. This document is not asking Indian court to follow or enforce US law. It's just a declaration.
