No appts open in Chennai consulate - why?

Hi,

I have been trying to set an appointment for my mother at Chennai Consulate (Telugu). There are NO open slots available. The situation is the same for the past 2 weeks. I sent an email to the consulate but they never replied.

I have the HDFC bank receipt and I am all set to get an appointment once the slots are opened.

I just want to make sure I am visiting the right website and looking at the right spot. http://vfs-usa.co.in

If any of you are sailing in the same boat, please reply back to me so that I will know that I am looking at the right place and that I am not alone.

Yes, u are looking at the right place.. Keep trying eveyday. I would say every 5 mts :) Check early morning hrs in USA.
 
I am unable to understand why there are no appointments, surely some month in 2006 should have appointments or they just make appts for next two three months. I am in the same situation.

To make an appointment at Chennai consulate go to www.vfs-usa.co.in site and check the date for Tourism/Family visit/All other purposes in the purpose of the travel. I could see the entire month of June 2006 dates are available for Telugu interview (Don't look for the child of the person working at USA, that is for getting dependant visa)

The dates were posted only today. I was on internet the whole day yesterday with no appointments.
 
Tangohi is right. The dates were not available until midnight on 1/26/06. They were opened some time today.

I just booked the appointment for 5-Jun-06 for my mother. Thanks to all for replying to my post.

Good luck to you all (and your parents/spouses) who are applying for visas.
