No AOS/EOS/COS - Urgent Help Required, please!

Hello everyone! I am posting this query in a state of panic.
My parents came to the US on the 5th of March 2010, and were given a 6-month stay period. The stay expires on the 1st of September. Now, in the mid of july, my parents visited Canada and came back on the 23rd of July to US. When they came back, their I-94 was reissued, and on the backside of I-94 under the 'record of changes' section, the immigration office wrote with hand- 'NO AOS/EOS/COS'.
Not knowing about it, I applied for their extension of stay on the 3rd of August'2010. Today I came across the remarks on their I-94. and began to panic. I called USCIS, but they didn't have much information about it at all. They asked me to make an infopass appointment.
I would like to know from all of you people how to go about it. What does it mean, if it says this under the 'record of changes' section.
Thanks a lot in advance.

I wanted to add to my previous post that, half an hour ago, I got the receipt from USCIS confirming that they have started processing the application. It has come 10 days from the date of filing. Isn't that swifter than usual?
Also, I have an infopass appointment for Monday, 16th of August. I will be going by myself, and would take my parent's passports along. Should that be fine? And as I read elsewhere in this forum, even if the extension is denied, the multiple entry visa is not cancelled/deemed void. It would be at the discretion of the immigration officer the next time my parents enter the US. Do i understand correct?

They were advised because of their apparent abuse of their visit visa that they should not apply for EOS, COS or AOS. They did so; it will be denied because they cannot follow directions given them by the IO. They need to leave promptly before the expiration of their I-94.

They should not return for a while and they should certainly not apply for another EOS during that visit. If they cannot follow the rules for visiting the US, their visa can be voided.

You should be afraid of the consequences; the attempt at visa abuse was foolish. and was caught.

I understand you are a senior member here, and definitely hope that you are here to help everyone - as much as you are concerned of 'US'! But, has the sense of being polite ceased to exist? And, in the name of help, you go around insulting people! If you can explain here in full public display how the visa was attempted to be abused, I would acknowledge your previous reply. And you dare not call anyone you dont know foolish! Whatever might happen to the visa tomorrow, I sincerely hope someone infuses a sense of healthy politeness in your system.
Thanks a lot Mr. America!

These codes are given for a very good reason. The fact that you and deliberately ignored the instructions of a US immigration official was indeed foolish. I may be blunt, but I do know how to read and follow instructions while you apparently have a problem understanding US immigration directives.

If your family members are unable to abide by the rules and instructions of US immigration officers, they are not going to be welcomed back. Visiting the US is a PRIVILEDGE; abide by the rules governing the program.

Actually, I was quite polite - foolish is a very polite term verses others that could have been used. Now, send them back properly; they were advised that they are not welcome to file and EOS.
