NIW or EB1(EA)

At present, the speed is the same since no backlog in NIW.
From my opinion, NIW is not always easier. If your background is strong enough, EA may be better.
 
Then what\'s the negative aspect of NIW compare to EB1(EA)

I need to know more detail before I talk to the lawer.

NIW is that you have to convince the immigration officer that your stay in USA is National Interest.
If your background is so good, you can demonstrate how good you are, you have extraordinary ability-EA.

Major: pharmacology
Ivy League school, expecting Ph. D. in 2002
10 papers (4 first author), 7 meeting abstracts (4 first author)

Is it good enough for EB1(EA)?

By the way, do you know any good lawyer around New York City for EB1 (EA)? Most of the lawyers do not have much experience with EB1(EA).

I suggest you to find information of EA and NIW.
Each one needs to fit at least 3 items.
Your PhD can be used to satisfy 1 item in NIW. The best is to collect more items now; and do your green card petition after you get your PhD.
Are those papers and meeting published in English journals?
Do you have any outstanding research awards?
Find out how many citations from your papers.
Do you have one or more membership(s)? Only memberships voted into society counts, not those you buy.
Have you even done as a judge for scientific reasons?
I do not know information of lawyers in NYC, sorry.

My papers are in English Journals (22 citations for all of them(published in recent 2 years)).
My membership for sociently of XXX was reviewed by a panel but I don\'t think it was voted.
My gradute program has already given me two Masters (MA and M.phil), so I do have advanced degrees from US.

I want to do the petition now because it was said that it\'s eaiser to find a job with a green card and I naively believe it.

The Lawyer I am talking to said my situation is much better than the others who got approved without many publications. Basically, he said my major, school and publications are more than enough to get NIW (He seems pretty experienced with NIW)... then asked me a lot of money:)

I think:
as long as your membership was reviewed by a panel, that should count;
you have strong publication records, definitely count for 2 items, one original contributions and the other publications;
your citations, count for 1 item;
your membership, counts 1 item;
you 2 masters (master or PhD count), count for 1 item in NIW.
I knew the details after you post this message. I encorage you to apply for NIW. By the way, how much did the lawyer ask for?
