NIW I-140 approved, I485 pending, transfer from academic h1b to industry

What should I do?

If I use EAD to cover the gap from April 1 to Oct1, Can I get back to H1b from AOS? Does that impact my pending PR application?

I feel insecure to use EAD till I got my greencard since the field changed from electronic device to optical fiber. Both are reliablity related though.

Any suggestions?

With an approved I-140 its supposed to be safe to use EAD.

HOWEVER, my lawyer just told me about a case where someone with an approved I-140/NIW got an RFE for papers/citations/more letters at the I-485 stage (!!!). This is California so probably it was NSC. They might be questioning whether that person is still working in the same field, or NSC is just trying new things to make the process less efficient and more crazy.
