Next Steps? - WIFE

I applied for my wife's I130 when I was still a GC Holder. She is in the US.
The I130 was approved but she does not have a visa number as yet to adjust status. Thus her I130 approval is currently waiting at NVC till she gets a visa number.

I am getting my citizenship hopefully in the next 2 months or so;

after gaining citizenship what forms do I need to send for her, since she should automatically get her visa number?. How long before she gets her advance parole, work document at Newark DO?. How long before she gets the Green Card?.

Thanks again

manojimm,

I am in same situation, ditto. I have done some research and here is what your wife should once you become citizen.

File I -485 with a copy of approval notice of I-130 and your naturalization certificate. You can check Newark DO processing dates to get an idea of wait time.

File I -693: Medical Exam with I-485

File I - 864: You (or a sponsor) will have to complete and file with 485.

File I-131 : Application for Advance parole

File I -765: Application for work permit.

EAD and Advance parole processing time is about 2 months.

Hope this helps.

Is medical a must when filing 485?

Thanks for the info...

Can I not get the medical done for my wife after filing 485 and all other forms. This way I can get the other stuff to them faster (next couple of days or so)

Is it not possible to get the medical done later and take it for the interview?.

Regards

Manoj

you can't do anything like filing I-485, until you become a citizen.

As for the medical, it depends on the processing times for your local district. If it takes more than a year or two, you can bring the results to the interview. They will let you know before your interview.
