several questions:

1. What do the service center processing dates mean
2. I applied for 485 adjustment this week, I140 approved last week of May 2005. priority date: 4/5/2001 , EB3. what would be the typical reasoning at arriving at possible 485 approval dates ? (they could be totally unreasonable :( )

--USCIS assigns a bunch of applications to officer(s) to process, which have received date (RD) close to processing date published. Normally you should see sth after processing date pass a month or so.

--A million dollar question. Consider EB3 visa number unavailabe till Oct 2005, even the processing date reaches your RD, they wouldn't touch your file till Oct. After Oct, you need to see what is retrogression cut off date. They also got to run FBI name checking which could be 1month to 2 years!
Good luck.

Thanks for the quick response.
You mean the processing date should reach my I485 receipt date for my file to be even considered? The current processing dates are in 2003, so no luck for atleast another couple of years ?

--Not 100% but most likely.

--You can't extrapolate the date of touching your case by current processing speed and date. USCIS works in random style. They may process 6 months worth of cases in one month or being stuck in a date for 6 months from history. They target to achieve 6 months processing time by the mid of 2006. Don't know how real it is.
