NewArk INS office does not stamp passport any more after approval, was there today

its confirmed...this is really happening

a friend of mine went thru the exact experience today; and they took away his AP also. he also mentioned that they were doing it this way for those individuals who had been sent approval notices; for those who have not yet been sent notices, they will do the additional security check BEFORE sending the approval notice. so for all of us in the q...thats a further delay before we get our approval notices.

Does that mean we do not have to go through the same process for stamping since they would do the check before approving I-485? Makes sense though.

yes; for those of us who have not got approval notices (and I\'m a loooong way off...Nov RD), all this means is that we\'ll just have to wait a bit longer...we won\'t have to go twice.
 
I was approved on begin of May, on the mid of April I asked IIO she said that they were doing this

SINCE YOU CAN GET PLASTIC CARD IN A BOUT A MONTH, YOU

MAY ALREADY GOT THE PLASTIC CARD BEFORE YOU ARE CALLED TO GO TO STAMP. AM I RIGHT? OR, YOU CAN ONLY GET CARD AFTER GOT STAMPED? OR, THOSE WHO GET THIS ROUND OF SECURITY CHECK IS BECAUSE THEY MISSED THE SECURITY CHECK WHICH JUST IMPLEMENTED IN THE SERVICES CENTERS WEEKS AGO?

Exact words of the officer "We may call you or send you an invitation by mail to come for PP or GC will be sent you without invitation", for me it means that they do not have exact instructions yet.

YES they took my Advance parole.
YES I contacted the supervisor about this. She could\'nt help me much other than promising me that she can xpedite the background check ( I am not sure what that is ... )

I also contacted my attorney. According to her you CANNOT be a "parolee" if your adjustment is approved ( it is a different ball game if you are already on vaction and your 485 gets approved. )

So my travel plans are up in the air..

Given the circumstances, for the people who have already made travel plans, will it be better to not go to the local INS office after getting the approval notice, complete the travel and then go for \'stamping\'? What if there is an emergency?

sher, question on your post related to \'exact words\'. What is \'CG\'. Do you mean GC? So does it mean that INS can send the GC without stamping the passport?

JUST "EVERYBODY NEED A SECURITY CHECK", IF YOU DID NOT GOT STAMPED. NO MATTER YOU\'RE APPROVED OR NOT! SO, GUYS WHOSE FILE STILL IN INS NO NEED TO WORRY. GOD BLESS US! WE ARE TOO NERVOUS!

     You are right. I did see that on Approval notice. Infact they gave me back my original approval notice and EAD. All they took was
I-94, AP and COPY of Approval notice ( of course, signature + FP on I-551 )

I see same thing happening with atleast 6 other folks who were with me
today.
 
Security check

One of my friend\'s case came up for an interview in Dec\'01 in Newark. At the time of interview, his FP was done saying there was a new Security check started two weeks back and he should hear by the end of January \'02. And in fact he did get approved in Jan\'02 and before the first week of Feb\'02, he got his Green Card. He did not go for the stamping. I know this is an old case and every case and every security check is different, but this scenario has happened sometime back as well. So I think that they might as well send the GC without calling for the stamping because the stamping is not mandatory as it is valid only for a year. The most important thing is to return your original EAD and AP which these guys have done and have a second FP for the GC. This FP is imprinted on the GC.

I guess you missed copy of passport. Didn\'t they take the copy of passport with entry/exit stamps.

who are there for an interview? After their interview, are they \'stamped\' or do they also have to wait for the second round of check?
