I'm about to apply for a k-1 visa for my partner. I've been doing research but every website seems to tell me different information. I need someone who has actually done this to tell me what documents they had to submit and how long it took and just basically each step of the whole process. I'd appreciate it beyond belief. I really need help cause I wanna do this right the first time so it's not even more complicated haha. Thank you for any help!

First you should have a read of the USCIS site
How Do I Bring My Fiancé(e) to the United States?
and
Application Procedures: Bringing a Fiancé(e) to Live in the United States

If you look at the Procedures link you will note that, it shows you the basics of what is required to be sent.

The forms themselves pretty much tell you the rest. Have a read of Guide to filing the I-129F Fiance Petition It covers just about everything.

The time the process takes is like asking how long is a piece of string. There is no way of saying how long your process will take as there are too many variables. Cases can be held up in security checks (which are done at the USCIS, NVC and consulate/embassy stages), or you may get a request for evidence if the adjudicating officer feels more evidence is needed or there is something missing. Consulates also vary greatly in the time they take to schedule interviews.

K-1 Flowchart

You will see my reponse in the other thread you asked a question.

Once the visa processing center is known and then the visa type you are pursuing, there is enough data available to state some averages.

In general, for China, which your fiance is from:
K1: 8-10 months
K3: same
CR1: 12-14 months
DCF: 6-8 months (filing to USCIS overseas office)

Here is the list

I'm about to apply for a k-1 visa for my partner. documents they had to submit

Here are the documents I would be submitting sometimes in May/June.

1. I 129F application
2. I 325A data.
3. Proof that you have seen each other within the last two years.
4. Check for $170.00
5. Copy of your citizenship certificate
6. Letters from you and your fiancee showing your original intention to marry within the 90 day period.

The document list can be much more exhaustive..

When are you looking to submit your documents?
Can you post the country and the consulate info?
