New to board question on second time applying

hoping in 2009

First let me wish everyone here a very Merry Christmas :)

I apllied for citizenship in 1998 and I got denied because I had broken the continous time frame of 5 years back in 1993 I went out of the US.

Anyway fast faward to today I want to reapply again but I am terrified that they will pull out my old records and re-question me about 1993 and the failed attempt at citizenship.

So my question is " Does this happen will they look at my old application/ paperwork etc and could that give me problems with this new application?"

Also I have NOT left the US since that time not even for a short vacation or nothing.

All your help is appreciated

very confused and upset with this matter :(

I might be in the same situation in future...because I already applied and done with fingerpinting. I was out of country around 3 years back for more than 6 months and less than 1 year for my medical school. I am trying to defend by showing my medical certificates.
However, coming to your point, it is NOT AT ALL a problem as the previous application was denied only based on lack of continuous residence.
You should be perfectly fine. USCIS is aware that there are many applicants like you and me who apply.

Thank you svreddykooturu for your reply,,, on this subject when it asked you to list all the trips outside the US did you list them??

Because I am not sure what to answer in the question : List all your trips outside the US since becoming a legal resident''

should I list it or leave it blank

In any case good luck to you and please let us know how your inteview goes.

Although it was before the last 5 years, I also had several long trips over 6 months but less than a year without reentry permit and I listed all of them on my n-400 accordingly. I think you have to list them all as they said.

My questions to your 98 application are
1. Did you count the days in the US from your last trip when you filed your application in 98? Was the reason of denial the less than 5 years in the USA after your 93 trips? If so, you don't need to worry about the application anymore since you already have more than 5 years now. Or was there anything else beyond counting days like..?
2. Was your trip over a year? Did you have re-entry permit?
3. Did you bring any evidence of your ties to the US, such as rental or payment stuff? Wasn't that good enough?

I will probably have interview before you and I will let you know the outcome. Let's keep in touch...:)

No I did not count the days back then I was young and not very informed in the rules I had to follow, that plus someone ( who was supposed to know more than me ) helped me fill out the application and since I was not adviced to keep copies I can't even remeber for sure what answers I gave at that time :-(

2. Was your trip over a year? Did you have re-entry permit?

No my trip lasted about 10 months and I had NO idea about re-entry permits,, IN FACT THAT is another fear I have will they tell me since I was gone for 10 months will they make me file re-entry permit even thought this happened in 1993/94( but that would make no sense because I have lived here since then and have never left after that not once ) see my mind is confused LOL...
3. Did you bring any evidence of your ties to the US, such as rental or payment stuff? Wasn't that good enough?

did not bring anything because I did not have anything I could bring <<<<hmmm>>>>
All in all I wish you the best of luck in your interview and please post any updates in your case.

thanks for replying to me :)
