Guys i am working for a consulting company on TN Visa. The client is hiring me full time and will be initiaing a new TN process through mail.
I am wondering if their are any restrictions on travelling to Canada. I have to visit family in Toronto and wondering if i can travel or should i wait till this process is completed

No problem, The TN is being sought by the employer, so there is no question of you abandonning the petition when you leave US, since it is not your petition.
 
correct current TN from a consulting company valid till 2015 new TN Petition from client in process.
Once i get the New TN i will port over from consulting company and work directly for the client
