New Passport Validity

Hello All,

I recently got engaged and asked my fiance to apply for the Indian passport. She applied through the Tatkaal scheme in Chennai and got the passport in a week. But her passport is valid only for "5 years".

My passport and all my friend's passport's are valid for 10 years. Does anybody have any idea why her passport is valid for 5 years only ? Will this cause any issues?

I am not sure whether i can post this query in this forum, but was not sure where exactly i could post either. I apologize if i was not supposed to.

Sorry I dont have answers (but I dont think it will cause (m)any issues) for you, buf if you dont mind, I would like to know the process used for tatkal? If you could summarize the process it would be a great help.

I am not sure about the exact procedure. My fiance contacted a travel agent who helped her with the process. Sorry couldn't be of much help.
