new H4

I am on H1B visa working in the US and I am planning to get married in November this year in Mumbai.
I enquired at the visa-services in Mumbai and they said unless you have a marriage certificate your wife cannot
get an appointment for H4 visa. And from the appointment scene these days it seems you have to make
an appointment ATLEAST one month in advance.
Now the problem is, I am planning to go only for about 15 days so it seems impossible that I can
get my wife a dependent visa and bring her along with me when I get back.

I feel this whole procedure is very frustrating unless someone knows of an easier way out!

Regards,

You do not have to send the marriage certificate when you schedule an appointment. Look at the attached image. This image is from the visa-services.com which is a part of the appointment process. Notice that the marriage certificate is NOT a required document.

What you need to do here is:
Schedule an appointment online for your fiancee for a day or 2 after the wedding.
Send all documents to Visa Services 30 days before the appointment date. You need to send only those documents that you checked on the formwhile setting an appointment.
Get a marriage certificate the day after you get married.
Appear at the consulate with the marriage certificate, photographs etc... on the appointment date.

I will suggest that you call visa-services in mumbai at +91-22-24944666. They are very helpful. I have called them in the past and gotten very precise answers to my questions. Call them and confirm if this plan is acceptable or not.
Look closely at the screenshot posted .....

See the sentence just above "Marriage Certificate"
It says, "Marriage Cert is MANDATORY if applying for dependent (H4/L2) visa"

So yeah -- the plan may not work as-is ;)
