New H1B and I-94

Hi All,

I was laid off on November and applied for a B2 visa to be in-status.
I recently got my B2 approved. INS gave me a new I-94 with new
date (valid for only 3 more months). Now I found a job and new a H1B.
I have entered USA for the first time on May, 1998. So I should have
my H1B quota till May, 2004.

(1) Will it be a renewal of the H1-B I was holding prior to be laid off
 or will it be a new H1B?
(2) Will I get another I-94 from INS with date being May, 2004

Please let me know.

1. New H1
2. New I94. But there is a possibility that you will not get the I94 since you changed status and may be asked to go to a US consulate to get the stamp and enter using a new I94 at POE
