Context: Was on L1, my company got acquired, hence moved to H1 (premium processed) and family to H4 (New I-94 cards).
Question: Was told that in any visa type change situation (e.g., L1->H1 or L2->H4), one should get the new visa stamped in any US consulate out side of the US. Is there any situation where INS/DC center would entertain visa stamping without going out of the US or with any exceptions?
Problem: The usual time it takes if the stamping to be done in India is a minium of 3+ weeks, plus it is a burden that may be forced on to me for re-entry in to the US, if I have to go on short term (1-2 weeks) business to any other country.
Any thoughts ? Thanks in advance.
