New Employer after One Year

Hello All;

This is my first visit here. I'm a Canadian national who came to LA for a one year project. I'm somewhat of a specialist in my field (published author, international speaker, etc.) and I've been offered a very similar one year project with another employer. They're willing to write the letter I need, etc. However, I'm not sure where exactly I go. Do I leave the US and go back to Canada or can I do this here in the US? I know it's a new visa that I apply for. Thanks to anyone who can assist.

That would be the simplest and cheapest, either that or getting them to file an I-129 and $1000 for Premium Processing.

He did answer and he said you can do either. You can go back to Canada and then get one entering back into the US at a POE and pay $56

OR

You can pay more and fille a I-129 and give them a $1000 to process it faster.

You can do either one.

Even if there is an employer change you can still file I129 to get new TN for new job?
I thought that required going to POE?

as long as you are valid status in the US under whatever kind of visa (TN, H1, B, O, etc), you can change your status, renew your status, or change the employment sponser by filing I-129 with VSC. THe key is that you must at the time of filing be in a legal status.

Thank you Gunt.
I did not know that and I am about to change employer after 6 TN's with my current one.
I am a bit reluctant to go to POE... so I will ask my new empl. to file I129.
