New EAD. When can wife start work?

My wifes EAD was approved via e-mail yesterday. Social Security Administration said she had to wait until her EAD card came in before she goes to the SSA office to apply for a SSN. Is this true or can she just go in with the e-mail printed off. Secondly, she can start work today, right? The business just can't pay her until she has a SSN? How long does it take to get a SSN? Some say 2 weeks, some say 6.

No, she has wait for her EAD card. By law, when an employee starts working, employer has to obtain I-9 form on very first day of employment. Your wife needs EAD card to fill-up I-9. So, without EAD card employer cannot employ your wife.

However, for starting employment, she does not need to wait for SSN. Once she gets her EAD, she can start working without SSN.

Does she need the physical card in hand to start work? I understand she needs the card for the I-9 application for SSN.

Yes, she needs physical EAD card (there is no other kind of EAD card). I-9 is required for employment purpose. It's not required for SSN application. If she shows her EAD card and fill-up SSN application form at SSA office, she will get her SSN.

Hi,

I am applying for EAD renewal. I have question in I-765 form.

Question is : Have you ever before applied for Employment Authorisation from INS??
answer is YES
They are asking :: Which INS office - answer is NSC

Date(s) :????????? WHICH DATE HERE ..Is it RD or ND when EAD was applied last year from my company lawyer.? Or is it EAD Approval date ???

Pls clarify guys as I have to send it tomorrow only due to 90 days requirement for to get i-EAD if in case NSC doesn't approve it within 3 monthjs.

EAD to H4

Hi Guys,
I am new to this forum and read through this and lot of other forums.
I have a question on EAD /H4 scenario.

I am working with company A on H1. Company A has also applied for Labour Certification.

I got my wife's and my Labour/I-140/EAD approved through company B.
I have applied for 485 and it is pending through company B.
None of us has used the EAD yet.
My wife is currently on H4.
Question is if she starts working on EAD and my 485 (thro' company B)
gets denied, Can she switch back to H4 (as long as I am with company A on a valid H1)?
