Gurus,

Please give me the details inforamtion who already visited with AP. I have to go to Bangladesh. I may need to take as a transit UK, Germany, Belgium or Singapore to go to my country with AP. If I use those country's transit, should I have to take transit visa prior to leave usa? What kind of documents I have to carry besides AP for safety? Any detail info will be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Dip

Dip,
you need to start researching the forums a little more. There are million threads on transit visa under GC thru employement forums..

The jist of the matter is if travelling via London or France, they need transit visa as thats their policy.. they dont consider Advance parole to be a visa. For them either a visa or GC lets you go thru... So if you dont have a H1 or vistors visa, and are using EAD and AP, then you need to take transit visa if travelling throught london.. Details can be founds on UK immigration site easily.. www.britainusa.com
As far as travelling is concerned, take a receipt of I-130 notice and I-485, EAD and AP with you.. that should be more than enough..

Thanks so much. I appreciate it.

Visa requirements are based on traveler/visor's citizenship, not his/her immigration status in the United States!

UK, France or any other countries don't care a bit what's your US visa/imm status. Even when you get a Green Card, you may still need a transit visa for UK and/or visitor visas for other countries!

The only time I know the GC gives you a break is when traveling to Canada or Mexico. But only if you travel directly from United States.

GeorgeF,
Your statement is absolutely incorrect.
If you have a GC or a valid Vistor's visa to US, then one doesnt need a transit visa via UK or France when travelling back to US. Please research
www.britainusa.com at your convenience...

You are confusing with vistors visa to UK in comparision to just the transit visa when travelling from anywhere in the world back to US via transit to UK...

enjoy the weekend..

You are correct. This must have changed relatively recently. So UK is another country that gives you just a little break when you have a GC. I too was a citizen of a country that UK required a transit visa from me and it was the most ridiculous thing. No one ever checked for it since direct airside doesn't require to clear immigration.

I guess the lesson to be learned is that visa requirements change frequently and it's better to always check with the embassy.

You too have a nice weekend.
