Need to travel after citizenship interview but before oath!

My interview is scheduled at the end of this month (minneapolis). The oath there generally occurs after a month or two (from what I gather from this forum). I need to travel to India in that duration. Will they return my Green Card back to me after the Interview? If not, what document will I be provided with/I need to request at the time of interview; so that I may be able to travel?

They will only take a look at your GC at the interview and then give it back to you. So, if you have some time between the interview and the oath, you can travel with your GC and your current passport.

The difficulty may arise if you take the oath on the same day as your interview or if your oath is scheduled before your trip. Then, you will have to obtain the US passport first and then travel. If it happens, you could either postpone the oath or take the oath and try to obtain an expedited passport by scheduling an appointment at the passport office.
