Need to leave the US while on conditional green card

Hi, Everyone!
I have a conditional green card and I already spent 2,5 months in my home country last year, this year I want to go again in order to finish school I started there several years ago, but it will take me 4 months to do that. Is it going to be a problem to return to the US? Do I have to apply for some sort of reentry permit? (As far as I know green card holders are only allowed to be outside the US for no more than 6 months). Does my husband need to do anything? Is it going to help if goes with me?

Any information is extremely valuable. Thank you very much

4 months won't be a problem, if it's not a long series of consecutive 4 month trips.

You don't need a reentry permit for a 4 month trip if you will return before your conditional green card expires. However, remember to make arrangements to file I-751 from overseas if you will be outside the US in the 90-day window before your GC expires.

(As far as I know green card holders are only allowed to be outside the US for no more than 6 months).
The hard limit without a reentry permit is a year, not 6 months. However, being outside the US for 6 months or more creates problems with citizenship eligibility, and a trip of 6+ months also invites more scrutiny and hassle at the port of entry.
