Need to inform ex-country embassy?

Hi:

I just became a US citizen in September. Yay, long wait over!

I am from India. Do I need to contact the Indian embassy about my new US citizenship? Is there any protocol that needs to be followed once you give up a citizenship of original country and take up a new citizenship?

With India, YES. If you ever intend/expect to travel to India, then you ought to "surrender" your Indian citizenship (which, constitutionally, you automatically lost the moment you became a US citizen) officially. Don't forget to shell out the whopping $175 for it.
