Hi

I just need some good opinion for my situation. It might be a little bit long but sorry.. So here is the case, I got my GC through lottery 5 years ago and I will have my citizenship interview in 5 days. Hopefully, if there is no other problems , I will be a US citizen. My girlfriend has been in US for 2 years with the J1 visa, her visa got expired in August 5th but she is in her grace period right now..

We know each other 4-5 months and decided to marry. I know it sounds really weird but I love her , she loves me and seems like the relationship goes pretty good. So here is the complicated part starts.. If I marry her after I become US citizen ,

1) Do you guys think since we met 5 months ago, can it be viewed suspicious from the interview officers ?

2) Since she was an AU-Pair , she was living with her host family and I was living with my roommate. So , basically we did not live together but we are planning to. Is it a big problem that we did not live together ?

3) After we get married, I am planning to rent a place for us and put both of our names on it. Also, open joint account, put her on my car insurance, what else we can also show as a proof ?

We took some pictures but they are not like very old 1 2 months ago. And , we did not had a vacation together so any other ideas ?

4) Before she is out of status which is September 6 , we can marry. However , my concern is we have been together 5 months and lets say I become citizen August 24 . All those dates are really close to each other less than maybe 6 months, do you guys think immigration think this is a fake marriage even it is not ?

5) Worst case scenario, if our application got denied, we can appeal . After appeal if it still gets denied, will be future wife will be deported even I am married to her ?

6) Last question , if they think it is a fake marriage, can it be possible for me to loose my citizenship or rights in here ?

If you guys answer and give some ideas , I really appreciate it. Thanks..

You will not lose your citizenship.

Considerations - if she has 2 year HRR

If you have a real relationship, you will have others - like the family she worked for - that will be able to attest to its validity.

Go read the USCIS website about citizen petitioning for spouse. It will make you more confident about the process.

You still can marry after she is OOS on 9/06. You do not need to rush. A spouse of a USC doesn't need to have a status to file the AOS. Do not fail in her trap on this.

A1: No
A2: No
A3: That is a good start
A4: Not necessarily
A5: Why do you think it will be denied if it is a genuine marriage?
A6: You just paranoid or hiding something? :)
