Hi Friends,
I applied for Asylum on 12/12/12. Despite of well gone interview my case has been referred to the Immigration Judge with schedule Master's Hearing of March. I think one of the primary reason that my case was referred to the Judge was because I filed for Asylum in 4 years instead of one year.
Since, I did everything on my own, now at this moment I am little confused of few things:
1. I have heard that the date for Master Hearing in NY takes at least 1 or 2 years because of the flow of applications. Is this true?
2. Secondly, though I have not done anything and since my clock is still running, will this still stop my clock and forbide me away from my EAD if I took lawyer now. Or, in other words, if I go to court on my Master hearing and ask my Judge to allow me for EAD and do not stop my Clock as I want to work to pay my lawyer - does this gives me more chances of getting EAD or my taking Lawyer now will not affect at all as long as my clock is ticking.

Thanks,

My case took one year from start to finish in NYC back in 2006. Sorry can't help you on the second question.
