Hello,
I applied for my PR in 10/2001 and got my medical forms feb 2003 with instruction to proceed with my medical after 6 months. I applied for the PR from US, but had to leave US for India in July of 2002 due to H1B sponsorship issues. I have given my friends address in US as mailing address.

My question is: will my processing be affected if I do my medical in India and let the Canadian authorities know that I am in India and will be landing from India?

Will the Canadian authorities send the landing packet to my Indian address.

How will the non availability of US pay slip change the final processing?

you can give medical in India , It is okie

Continue to use US address as when the PR papers come , your friends can send you those to India and you can alnd in canada from anywhere. It does not matter
 
Careful

Is it possible for you to complete the medicals in the US... if yes, I would strongly recommend that ...

If the consulate comes to know you are moving to India, the file will be transferred to New Delhi and there you will get to the end of the queue....

So watch out
 
Thanks for the replies. I understand from some of the postings that current pay slips are required to be submitted. Can you tell me when this needs to be submitted and if there is a work around for this?

Better to do your medical with a Physician whom you can access if there's a need for a follow-up. If you do it in the US and return to India, can you come back to the US for a follow-up visit, if required? Follow-ups might not be required-but just to be on the safe side.

here is what i did. i was in a similar situation as yours and i did my medicals in india and sent my passport from india for visa stamping. the only thing is you cannot send your passport by mail. instead what i did was to give it through my brother who went on a business trip to US with an uthorization letter and got my visa stamping and landing papers fine.

you dont have to transfer the file and loose more processing time. i suggest you do medicals in india so you can be there for follow-up if necessary as CanI said. the tough part is the personal interview and since you have crossed that stage, just relax and get the rest of the process done from india, its pretty cool. you may at the most loose about a month's extra time for the additional international mailing time, thats all. hope the info above helps, good luck.
