I am on F1 visa and my OPT expires next week. I have an entry level data analyst job in an IT company. They want to sponsor my H1 & green card but can't get H1 until October.
Is there anyway I can continue to work in this place?

I am planning to join Kaplan to maintain my status for another few months, will that cause a problem to process my H1 visa? I am offered 40K a year, is that too low for H1 approval?

Sorry to post it here, but I am sure lot of people on this forum have gone through this so I might get more feedback.

thanks

thanks for your reply Ray.
I haven't done my master's yet and my current OPT is from my undergrad.
You said: as soon as your OPT expires you're outta status , but I dont think thats the case, because we do have a 60 day grace period after the OPT expires for either to leave the country or to get a new I-20 for a different program.
So the reason I am trying to apply for Kaplan is that it will extend my stay for another 4 months, which will meet the October date for the issuance of H1B.

I am leaving my current company in 2 weeks because my OPT exipires this month. So my question is will my company be able to file for my H1 while I am in F1 status through Kaplan after my OPT expires?????????

thanks

As long as you time it so that you don't be out of status during the visa adjustments (H1-B to F1 and F1 to H1-B), I don't see an issue.

You could very well apply and obtain a H1B visa while on F1 visa.
