I am currently a J2 dependent (parent is J1). I am graduating with a 4 year BS degree this May, and want to seek employment. Although I am subject to the 2 year HRR rule, my parent has received a waiver for this, so it is not an issue.
In order to apply for an H1b, I require a job offer before April 1st. However, I cannot start working before October 1st. This will obviously be a major problem for any employer.
A J2 dependent cannot apply for an OPT.
Is there any way that I can start working soon after graduation, instead of having to wait until October 1st? I would greatly appreciate any and all advice.
