Folks, I need a practical advice.
Myself and spouse are scheduled for citizenship interview in Chicago in mid January. We would like to do a minor change in the spelling in her last name. However, the following is our situation.
I urgently need USC status so I do not want to cause any delay on getting my papers. Her case is bit different, she will eventually need it too, however, 1-2 month delay is not a big deal in her case.
What is the best way forward ? Possible options:
Also, what is the process for Option A ...how long it will take to do a minor name change to the spelling of her last name (basically we will drop one letter at the end to make same as mine) on our own after obtaining citizenship ? Thanks...Wishing you all great and very successful New Year.

A. Do not change spelling of her name via interview process. Do it post factum after she gets citizenship papers.
B. She requests a change during interview....and hopefully, if it is delay, it will only impact the timing of Oath Ceremony. I assume that unless we request they will not try to do our Oath in the same day
